Grants

Friends of Music started providing grants to the various schools within the District in 2007. The more recent grants include the following:

Fall 2018 – Spring 2019

$2,280 – Two new Wessex Junior ‘Imp’ Tubas for Stewart School.
$2,000 – High School Choir Washington D.C. Trip (approximately $500 for drawstring bags)
$1,000 – Award to FOM High School Senior Scholarship Winner
$700 – Funding of FOM Student Achievement Awards for Stewart, Stratford, MS & HS
$550 – Two new Mackie monitor and cables to accompany performing groups during rehearsals and concert at Stewart School.
$315 – FOM’s share of Garden City Parent University expenditures
$220 – Contributed to the Memorial Day Parade Reception at the MS for our marching band participants and their families
$200 – Support of TMA’s annual journal
$125 – Ad page for High School Drama playbill

$4,750 – New, high quality Tuba for Garden City High School’s upper level bands, Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble.
$2,000 – Bass Drum Harness, Fender Bassman replacement, MIDI Keyboard Controller and Drum Line Cases for the Garden City Marching Band.
$2,250 – Two new high quality Leonardo DiVicenza 1/2 size cellos, one for Stratford School and one for Stewart School Orchestras.
$1,000 – Five new Tubano drums for Stewart School
$1,000 – Award to FOM High School Senior Scholarship Winner
$700 – Funding of FOM Student Achievement Awards for Stewart, Stratford, MS & HS
$300 – FOM’s share of Garden City Parent University expenditures
$200 – Support of TMA’s annual journal

$2,142 – New Cycolorama Curtain for the HS Stage (with the support of the Paul Eckna Foundation which donated $2,200)
$2,140 – New Sound equipment for Stewart School: 2 additional microphones and two headsets
$1,000 – Award to FOM High School Senior Scholarship Winner
$700 – Funding of FOM Student Achievement Awards for Stewart, Stratford, MS & HS

$15,000 – Contributed “finishing touches” to the new Music Wing of the High School, being completed in the Spring of 2014. This included 2 Archival Sheet Music Storage Cabinets; 3 Music Cabinets; significant relocation work of existing cabinets and shelving
